Former SC Senator Kay Patterson passes away at 93

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Former South Carolina State Senator Kay Patterson, who served over 30 years in the state legislature, has died at the age of 93, according to various state officials.
Patterson served the Palmetto State as a Democrat representing Richland County, first as SC House District 73’s representative from 1975 to 1985 and then as State Senator for SC Senate District 19 from 1985 to 2008.
A graduate of Allen University, Patterson served as a social studies teacher at W.A. Perry Middle School prior to his three decades in the public eye.
